Nei sistemi di riscaldamento dove il mezzo d'acqua accumula molte impurità nel corso degli anni di utilizzo. Le impurità possono essere particelle magnetiche da tubi di ferro, radiatori, ecc., ma possono anche essere varie impurità organiche derivanti dalla crescita di vari microrganismi e piante (alghe). Soprattutto nelle pompe di calore moderne, dove i produttori hanno cominciato a installare i circolatori di frequenza economica, il problema di queste impurità, che influiscono sul funzionamento del lato negativo dei circolatori e in alcuni casi anche bloccarli.
